The KA550 is suitable for everyday use and emergency preparedness. It can be powered through various means such as an optional AC/DC adapter, three AA batteries (not included), a built-in rechargeable Ni-MH battery that charges with the AC adapter, hand cranking or a computer, and a patented 180-degree adjustable solar panel that can provide power even without a battery.

This portable emergency radio offers multiple broadcasting options, including AM, FM, shortwave, and NOAA weather channels. All NOAA channels come pre-programmed for convenient tuning by simply turning the dial, eliminating any guesswork. Additionally, the Voyager features a weather alert function that will activate automatically to inform you of any hazardous weather conditions or warnings, such as those related to natural disasters, environmental events, or public safety concerns.

The radio features a 180-degree adjustable solar panel, allowing for maximum sunlight exposure to power the device or charge its internal Ni-MH batteries. Additionally, the backside of the solar panel offers a super-bright 5-LED reading lamp when flipped up.
